Chrome Moly Piping For Corrosion And Creep Resistance
Seamless ferritic alloy steel p22 pipe, compliant with astm a335, delivers superior corrosion and creep resistance, ideal for high-temperature boiler pipeline protection in power plants and petrochemical industries.
ASTM A335 P22 Pipe is a seamless ferritic alloy steel pipe developed for elevated temperature and pressure applications. This Chrome Moly pipe contains 1.90–2.60% chromium and 0.87–1.13% molybdenum, delivering excellent resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and thermal fatigue. It is widely used in boilers, pressure vessels, power generation systems, and heat exchangers.
The pipe is manufactured by hot-rolled or cold-drawn processes followed by controlled heat treatment. It is well-suited for bending, flanging, fusion welding, and requires preheating (approx. 200°C) and PWHT for optimal performance. Available in sizes from 1/2” to 24” (DN15–DN600), wall thickness from SCH 40 to SCH 160, and standard/custom lengths up to 12 meters.
Conforming to ASTM A335/ASME SA335 standards, each pipe undergoes rigorous testing including tensile strength, flattening, hardness, hydrostatic and nondestructive testing to ensure durability in demanding environments. Surface coatings like varnish, 3LPE, or FBE are available.
Compared to P11 or P5 grades, P22 pipes offer enhanced performance for prolonged service life under high thermal stress and pressure, especially in superheater tubes, reheater coils, and petrochemical process piping. They are also compatible with pipe fittings manufactured under ASTM A234 WP22.
P22 Seamless Alloy Steel Pipes are a reliable solution for high-efficiency industrial systems, helping reduce maintenance downtime and operational risks in aggressive thermal environments.
Operates reliably at temperatures up to 600°C, suitable for boilers, headers, and superheaters.
Chromium and molybdenum improve resistance against oxidation, scaling, and chemical attack.
Ferritic-martensitic structure provides excellent strength under high-pressure conditions.
Compatible with common welding techniques, ensuring easy field fabrication and repairs.
Sustains performance over extended exposure to elevated temperatures and thermal cycling.
Balance of performance and affordability makes P22 ideal for long-term industrial use.
