A Double Offset Butterfly Valve, also called a "double eccentric" valve, is a high-performance valve designed for tight shut-off and long service life in demanding applications. It achieves this with two offsets: the shaft is positioned behind the centerline of the disc, and the disc is offset from the shaft. This double offset creates a camming action, lifting the disc from the seat as it opens and preventing wear and seat compression, leading to zero-leakage performance in high-pressure, high-temperature, and even vacuum conditions
